Plant-Based and Gluten-Free Pizza Rolls

Looking for a delicious and easy treat for the weekend? These cheesy and garlic pizza rolls are the perfect way to indulge!

The key to keeping these rolls intact, is the addition of the guar gum as well as the technique of cutting and rolling. Instead of rolling the whole dough into a log like you would when making cinnamon rolls, here you want to cut the dough into 2 inch sections and then make each roll individually. This helps the dough to not tear as much as it normally would.

It is difficult to find pizza that is both vegan and gluten-free, but these rolls are the perfect alternative to pizza and are easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • ½ cup vegan butter (separated)

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • 1 tsp guar gum

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ packet of active dry yeast

  • 2.5 cups gluten free flour

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp onion powder

  • ¼ tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 cup vegan cheese shreds

  • 2 cups marinara sauce

  • 1-2 Tbsp minced garlic

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing the almond milk, ¼ cup melted vegan butter, maple syrup, and seasonings in a large bowl. Sprinkle the yeast evenly across the top and let sit for 5 minutes.

  2. Add the flour, mix, and then cover the dough with a towel and allow it to sit for an hour.

  3. Next, roll the dough out on a well floured surface until it is about ½ inch thick. Cover with sauce and cheese.

  4. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the rolled out dough into slices that are about 2 inches in width. Then roll the slices and place in a greased baking dish.

  5. Cover the rolls and allow them to sit for 30 minutes.

  6. While the rolls are resting, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and melt the remaining butter. Add the minced garlic and italian seasoning (optional).

  7. Once the rolls have sat for 30 minutes, cover with the garlic butter mixture and bake for 30 minutes.

  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes and enjoy!
